A letter from our owner about the status of preorder shipments. This is an update from Monday morning, August 2nd, 2021.
Emmett Armstrong here; owner of the Ballistic Armor Co. I know many of you have been waiting weeks or even months to receive your Gen 2 helmet, and you deserve to know what's going on.
At 6AM, I was sitting in the Medford airport waiting to catch a flight up to Portland. My plan was to meet the shipment in Portland, rent a U-Haul truck, and drive the last leg down to Medford myself.
This would shave off a day (or maybe even two days) from the final delivery time, because the shipment wouldn't sit in any more warehouses overnight. My crew and I were even planning to stay up late Monday night to pack the orders.
Less than 5 minutes after I got through security, I received the following email from my shipping broker:
I ended up walking out of the airport without boarding the plane. There's no point for me to fly to Portland today if there are no helmets to pick up.
My point in telling you this story is that I want you to know that I'm doing everything I can to get these helmets to you as soon as possible.
I take full responsibility for not communicating a solid timeline to you all. I should have expected these delays and planned accordingly, and I certainly shouldn't have promised a ship date that I couldn't guarantee.
You need to be able to trust the quality of this gear to protect you in dangerous situations. Along with that, you also deserve to be able to trust my company when we make a commitment. That's why I'm going to be posting daily updates on this blog until the helmets arrive.
I'll post another update on Tuesday (tomorrow) afternoon when I hear more from the shipping company. They'll be able to confirm if the shipment is on it's way to Portland or not by then.
Shipping labels are printed; and boxes are stamped and ready to go. We'll drop everything to get your helmets sent off on the same day they arrive in Medford.
It's my top priority to make sure that this issue does not happen in the future. We will work to keep all units in stock as much as we can. For the times where a product is backordered, we'll present that information on the product page BEFORE you purchase.
Thank you all for your patience. If there's anything my team or I can do for you, send an email to email@example.com or message us on social media.
